With the recent record-breaking cold snap, water pipes are freezing and bursting all over the region. Insurers are already seeing a rise in claims related to cold weather damage. The question is, how much will your insurance policy cover if this happens to you?

According to Butch Tilley of York Insurance Services, most homeowner's policies will cover the damage caused by a burst pipe. "If you have to do mold removal as a result of the leak, you are probably covered for that, too," says Tilley. "But there are normally limits on the coverage for certain types of personal belongings."
